A Little Patch of Ground

A Little Patch of Ground

A Little Patch of Ground is a food growing and performance project run by Encounters. It brings together an inter-generational group of residents from across the South Hams who meet at Dartington every Thursday from May - September to create and grow their own permaculture inspired vegetable garden. The group will also use creative writing and drama activities to explore, unearth and tell stories of the relationships people have with the natural world. Participants cook and share a weekly meal, as well as exploring thoughts about food, resources, climate change, interdependence and sustainability. These personal experiences are woven together into a multi-media performance that reflects the shared stories, thoughts and ideas unearthed during the project. Performances will take place at Dartington and in the surrounding area in early October.

The Encounters team are also facilitating an urban Little Patch of Ground project every Tuesday in East London at Toynbee Hall, home of Arts Admin. In the final week of the project these two twinned groups will meet to exchange experiences.
