Gail Mason

Gail Mason painter/printmaker

Gestural unique works concerned with the positive impact of colour and the experience of journeys both real and imagined. I am fascinated by the chance mark, and find that the painterly process of silkscreen monotype allows me a great deal of freedom from the usual restraints of printmaking. I seek to create images that invite reflection often employing rich colour in semi abstracts of the natural landscape, suggesting form rather than describing it.
I completed an MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking in 2004 and have since received several national awards for my work. I have exhibited widely in the South West and London, having had my work selected for the RWA, the Mall Galleries, Bankside Gallery and the Royal Academy. I am an elected member of the Bath Society of Artists, Somerset Printmakers and a an Artists Network member of the RWA. An experienced lecturer i.n Art and Design I now teach artists at Spike Print Studio in Bristol. I am co chair of North Somerset Arts.
