The Eclectic Collective

The Eclectic Collective

Five local contemporary practitioners in arts and crafts present a mixed exhibition in time for Christmas.
“We intend to produce an exciting and thought provoking exhibition, which will excite and inspire the local community.”

Crooknose is a local contemporary viral artist. Having previously specialised in video art his work can be seen on YouTube, and he has worked on collaborative projects within the industrial aggrotech music scene. His current work demonstrates a return to more traditional forms of fine art, with mixed media portraiture and illustrative artwork forming a new direction.

Michelle McQuinn Farrand’s mosaic work stems from a long-term obsession with recycling materials, and a desire to merge the old with the new.
“I love the idea of giving things a new lease of life. Old heirlooms can be transformed into modern pieces, but still convey lovely family memories.”
After a year spent co-ordinating the Kingsbridge Community Mosaic Project, she has been happy to get back to the hands-on process of mosaic making.

Jane Hasell’s semi abstract feltworks and paintings are a response to the local environment, with a particular emphasis on colour and atmosphere.
Georgie Byrom’s art reflects her fascination for nature, and for trees in particular: In her ink drawings, paintings, and ceramic tiles and plates, there is often a playful twist.

Jason Pengelly presents an eclectic mix of painting and woodwork. He particularly enjoys the simplicity of black against white, and the power of contrasting colour.
