Kirklees celebrates 40th edition of hcmf//

hcmf// is celebrating its 40th Birthday this year and we were delighted to kick off the celebrations with a reception hosted by our key funding partners Kirklees Council.

Invited guests joined Councillor Graham Turner (Cabinet Member Creative Kirklees and Resources) and Jacqui Gedman (Kirklees Council’s new Chief Executive from February 2017) in the Ceremony Room at Huddersfield Town Hall to mark the beginning of this historic year. As well as hearing plans for the anniversary edition of the Festival from Artistic Director, Graham McKenzie, guests were also treated to a slice of the specially created 40th Festival cake.

hcmf// contributes over £1 million in economic impact to the Kirklees area each year and is an integral part of Huddersfield’s unique musical heritage, which blends tradition with invention, creativity with excellence. Since its inception, hcmf// has gained an international reputation as one of the world’s leading festivals of contemporary bringing together artists, composers and audience members not just from across the UK, but from Europe and beyond.
