Find Your Voice - Masterclass with Suzi Digby

Tuesday evening masterclass with The Huddersfield Choral Society.

Suzi is an internationally renowned choral conductor and music educator. She has trailblazed the revival of singing in UK schools and the community over three decades. She has worked with some of the UK’s most important choral organizations and has worked as a guest conductor with orchestras including the OAE, the London Mozart Players, and BBC Symphony Orchestra. As the founder and Artistic Director of professional chamber choir ORA Singers she has been responsible for commissioning some of the most important choral works of the last 20 years by composers including Sir James Macmillan, Roxanna Panufnik, and Roderick Williams.

In our second masterclass, Suzi will explore music by important choral composers including Byrd and Tallis, providing participants insights into her interpretations of these works. Suzi will focus in particular on how we use our voices to get the most out of renaissance music. As part of this masterclass, Suzi will also introduce participants to some of the works she has commissioned that have been inspired by the music of Tallis and Byrd. It promises to be an evening of real exploration.

Find Your Voice is a specially curated series of five live online masterclasses by some of the UK’s leading choral musicians. Across five Tuesday evenings, some of the UK and world’s leading choral conductors will guide singers through well-known and much-loved works in the large-scale choral repertoire.

Each session will be interactive with plenty of singing involved. Every week our highly experienced team of vocal coaches will lead a warm-up following, which one of our leading choral conductors will take over and give you their unique insights. There will be an opportunity for questions as part of each session.

Since the pandemic started, Huddersfield Choral Society has been presenting online workshops to singers across the world. Though not in the same room, these sessions have a real sense of community and are a great way of getting back into the singing groove.
