Dewey – Research and Development

Dewey – Research and Development

Balbir Singh Dance Company will be in residence at the HLF Hub, researching their new work Dewey, which explores the world of libraries through dance. The Dewey Decimal System is a way of organising the books in a library based on the division of all knowledge into 10 groups.
Libraries are a treasure trove of stories. BSDC wants to hear your stories about libraries so drop into the Hub to say hello and join in the conversation.

You can see how a dance work is created in open rehearsal sessions each day. There will be a daily sharing of work created between 3.30pm and 4pm.

Balbir Singh Dance Company (BSDC) makes exciting and original dance theatre, blending contemporary western dance and classical Indian Kathak. Founded in 1998 and based in Leeds, the company regularly works with the best artists and musicians and, under the artistic leadership of Balbir Singh, stands at the forefront of intercultural dance practice in the UK.
