Finding creative work in new settings - Session 3

Finding Creative Work in New Settings – Session 3

The current economic climate means that more than ever artists and writers need to look to their own resources for new commissions, and working in community settings is an up-an-coming area to gain new skills and diversify income.

Taster sessions are available to help artists from all disciplines develop their skills and to take the initiative in creating projects and working in partnership. Session 1 took place on Thursday 13 October and explored working in health settings: hospitals, hospices and mental health groups. Session two looks at working with Intergenerational groups: children and young people working with groups of elders.
This session will focus on working with prisoners and ex-offenders.

Special guest will be Laura McCluskey, Writer and Theatre Education manager from Clean Break
“Clean Break is a theatre, education and new writing company. We use theatre for personal and political change, working with women whose lives have been affected by the criminal justice system. We believe passionately that engaging in theatre can create new opportunities for these women and develop their personal, social, artistic and professional skills.”

Participants will benefit from specialist knowledge from experts and decide whether to access a longer training programme to be offered at a later date.
“The session provided a fantastic overview, it was a ‘fast train’ across an amazing landscape of possibilities and insights.” Participant from Session 1
“The session was something to add to my backback/CV of experiences, giving me more confidence to develop my own workshops.” Participant from Session 1

• Session 4 will take place on Thursday 1 Mar – Working with heritage and cultural organisations
