A European Tragedy

A European Tragedy

A tale of deceit, sacrifice, betrayal, revenge, matricide and “justice”. First year drama students present an adaptation of four classical Greek plays dealing with the fates of Agamemnon, Clytemnestra and their children.

The drama of Ancient Greece is at the root of European theatre and the plays we will be looking at have been translated, adapted, and staged over a period of 2500 years. We have been working with translations from a hundred years ago to make them closer to us whilst also preserving some of their strangeness and charm.

The performance will run for approximately 80 minutes without an interval.
