Music Alive About Music Alive

Music Alive creates opportunities for and with people of all abilities to learn and develop through musical activities. Participants engage in music making or appreciation by registering with us directly, attending an activity in collaboration with an affiliate organisation or simply by turning up to a publicly advertised open workshop or performance. Beneficiaries are service users (physically and learning disabled children and adults), their supporters (paid and unpaid) and volunteers (disabled and non-disabled people). Individual and group music sessions take place in our well-equipped Music Room at Highworth Community Center. Working and meeting spaces at the same location are used by volunteers and staff to ensure that our work is safely and effectively delivered and to enable volunteers to develop their skills.

We take inclusive music making into the community through regular Drum Circles, gigs and music sessions at pubs, schools and other meeting places. Encouraging disabled people to communicate is an important role that has developed organically with our wider impact. We connect with people face to face, on the telephone and over the internet. Beneficiaries are enabled to express themselves and communicate through music which reduces loneliness and isolation.

Music Alive is based in North Wiltshire and also serves the counties of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
