Get writing using the country park as inspiration.

Enjoy writing? Enjoy the great outdoors? Then the perfect place to be on Sunday, 17 March, is Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall.
Les Hughes, a former journalist and lecturer on the Leeds University BA Journalism course, is running a creative writing session that will use the country park and its gardens as inspiration to put pen to paper.
“I'll try to get folks to find ideas, moods and keywords sparked by being outside in the wonderful setting of Oakwell Hall Park and gardens and weave them into prose or poetry. Whether we work as a group or individuals will depend on levels of skill, confidence and experience,” explained Les.
The creative writing will be in a relaxed setting around a campfire. Participants are asked to bring a notepad and pen to write down their thoughts.
The session will be from 2pm to 4pm and costs £5 per person. Places must be booked in advance at the Visitor Centre shop, in the courtyard next to the car park at the top of Nova Lane, or by telephoning 01924 324761.
The Visitor Centre shop is open Wednesdays to Sundays 10am-4pm and Tuesdays during school holidays.
