Independent Film Festival, Raindance, has Plymouth Premiere

To celebrate the success of Plymouth College of Art Film Arts students, who screened their films at the 18th Raindance Film Festival at the Apollo Cinema in London’s Piccadilly Circus in Sep-tember, we are bringing The Student Shorts Programme home to Plymouth.

The Raindance Plymouth Premiere will offer a unique opportunity for guests to see all 17 films shown at the Raindance Film Festival, selected from across all three years of the Film Arts de-gree programmes.

Lucy Leake and Dan Paolantonio, Programme Leaders for BA (Hons) and FD Film Arts say film lovers are in for a treat: “With ambitious and dynamic responses to storytelling, there is a real sense of diversity to the line-up. It’s very exciting for these film makers to have the opportunity to showcase their work here in Plymouth.”

Elliot Grove, founder of Raindance and guest speaker at the event, added, “I am delighted this screening will get its Plymouth Premiere, where many of these talented filmmakers are from. Not only will the night be a fantastic evening out for people interested in independent film, this will be a chance for people within the industry to spot emerging talent, and I wouldn’t be sur-prised to see some of the names on this programme as ones to watch in the future.”

“Raindance has a great partnership with Plymouth College of Art and long may it continue to supply the film industry with talented, skilled and creative individuals.”

Following the screening, Kelsey Fox, 19, who won the 'PCA Raindance Emerging Talent Award 2010' whilst a student on the National Diploma Media course at Plymouth College of Art, will talk about her film Tom and Jenna, which was received with great acclaim when it closed the London screening.

The screening will be taking place on Thursday 16 December, from 6pm in the Studio Theatre at Plymouth College of Art.

Tickets are on sale for £4 from the College by visiting the Information Point, situated in the front of the newly refurbished building, or by telephoning 01752 203434 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              01752 203434      end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
