Plymouth College Of Art Prize Winners Show Off

The College's Further Education Summer Show 2010 opened on Thursday night with a prize presentation to celebrate the best of the South West's new creative talent.

Winners of the Further Education Prizes were awarded certificates by Principal Lynne Staley-Brookes who says: “Year upon year, we are thrilled by the high quality work produced by our students and wish them all the best in pursuing their future studies and in continuing their creative journey.”

Martin Vella, Further Education Academic Director for the College, says: “It is with great pleasure we welcome the prize sponsors to the College, many of whom are successful artists, designers and entrepreneurs in their field, to be the first to congratulate the students on their work.”

Prizes were awarded from organisations such as the Sorrell Foundation, Ward William Associates, Plymouth based design company Matrix & Media Solutions, and Bristol agency SBW Advertising.

Further Education Courses at the College are complemented by the young Saturday Arts Club which has members aged between 9 and 17 years old, and all ages were represented at the award ceremony.

The opening night was also a Private View opportunity for families, VIPs and the media to get a first glimpse of the work in the rest of the Further Education Summer Show, which sees the entire College transformed into a vast Gallery with every space used for exhibition and activity.

Showcasing work from all courses including fashion, photography, graphics, film and ceramics, the Summer Shows give the public a great chance to see an eclectic mix of innovative designs and fresh ideas.

The Summer Show is open to the public every day from 9am until 8.30pm until 17th June and the shows are free for all.
