HVA OPEN STUDIOS AT PS ARTS

WELWYN AND HATFIELD NEWLY APPOINTED MAYOR LES PAGE OFFICIALLY OPENS HERTS VISUAL ARTS OPEN STUDIOS EXHIBITION AT PS ARTS.
Herts Visual Arts open studios has officially began and runs through till 28 of September this year. Mayor Les Page officially opened an exhibition at PS Arts on Friday evening and said; “This annual art extravaganza encompasses the whole of Hertfordshire with over 154 artists exhibiting in 94 unique exhibitions! Artists from the width and breathe of our beautiful county open up their home, studios and art galleries are bulging at the seams with all their talent.
PS Arts gallery is no exception. This year, they have 17 artists exhibiting under their roof; from Ceramics, jewellery, sculptures, photography, textiles to amazing oils, acrylics and watercolour paintings; it’s a magnificent display of vibrant colour and talent. “
For nature-lovers enjoy Jane Sleator’s’ perfect ceramic pieces which are thrown on the wheel and then decorated with wood bark designs that resonate and work well for modern and traditional interiors. Michael Cull’s oil and acrylic figurative and amazing abstract work are definitely not to be missed. If you love animals, Sue Patient working in oils, acrylic and graphite pencil, cleverly brings out the personality and soft textural characteristics of her subjects: she specialises in animal portraits or discover the unique work of Jenny Leslie, a textile artist that uses nature to create her fabulous scarves and other textile items.
As part of open studios, Linda Lipinski, artist and Sculptor will be exhibiting in Southern Hemisphere exhibition centre with her fantastically inspired solo African art exhibition entitled; “Khanya” bringing light to the Southern Hemisphere. This exhibition show cases her amazing talent as a Sculptor as well as her artist skills.
During Open studios a number of the artists will be demonstrating their craft, so why not come over and try your hand at pottery, making silver charms, painting or sculpture. Just go to PS Arts website (www.psarts.co.uk) for more detail.
Make PS Arts and Southern Hemispheres exhibition Centre one of your “art” destination while planning your route around Hertfordshire. The art gallery has a delightful vintage tearoom where you can enjoy a cup of tea and cake or relax in our beautiful up-cycled art garden.
All you need to create your own self-guided tour – or series of trips with friends or family – is the Herts Open Studios brochure containing venues and opening times. Find this at main libraries, tourist information centres and local galleries or view online. http://www.hvaf.org.uk/Open-Studios Entry to all exhibitions are free. If you like something you see, why not spoil yourself or a friend and make a purchase - or commission a special piece direct from the artist.
