Concert for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

Concert for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

We will remember them
A choir of 150 singers including Bishop’s Stortford Choral Society, Broxbourne Chorus, Royston Choral Society and an orchestra of 60 will be assembling for a large-scale concert at Wodson Park Sports & Leisure Centre in the evening of Remembrance Sunday 10 November at 7.30 pm.
These choirs previously came together at Wodson Park to sing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in June 2012, described as ‘powerful, uplifting and thoroughly enjoyable’. All profits from this year’s concert will go to the Ware branch of the British Legion Poppy Appeal. The Royal British Legion was founded in July 1921 and is the leading ex-Service organisation and one of our best-known and most highly respected charities. The Poppy Appeal is their main source of income each year.
In the spirit of remembrance, the main work in the programme will be Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace.  Other works will include Elgar’s Nimrod, John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen (from the film Saving Private Ryan) and Parry’s I was glad.
Tickets cost £20 and as all the proceeds go to the Poppy Appeal we would be very grateful if this could be Gift Aided.  We are also looking for sponsorship from individuals, other charities and businesses. Please contact Heather Howard on 01763 249058 or 07970739249 for further details.
