First Spark radio festival 2012

First Spark radio festival 2012

Soundart Radio's First Spark is a festival marking the rebirth of the cold earth, as it awakens from a wintry sleep. Soundart and friends will celebrate the increasing warmth and light - the beginning of spring - by reviving Imbolc traditions, both homely and community rituals. This year's festival will also focus upon the theme of improvisation.

Tune in to Soundart Radio between 1st and 5th February to listen to sound interpretations of the ancient festivals of Candlemas and Imbolc from local and worldwide communities.

Thursday 2nd February

A Soundart Radio platform for a panel of guest artists to respond to the question; Why Improvise? Join us live at the studio or tune into 102.5FM to listen to explore what improvisation means to their work as musicians, dancers, theatre practitioners and storytellers.

Saturday 4th February

Soundart Radio welcomes the long running improvisation collective, A Band. Studio 20 on the Dartington Hall Estate.

Sunday 5th February

Tune In First Spark 24hr Slow Sunday - music, poetry and sound pieces exploring the First Spark themes of new ideas and the earliest signs of spring, from local contributors and radio artists worldwide.
