2016 Huddersfield Saint Patrick's Day Parade Festival

2016 Huddersfield Saint Patrick's Day Parade Festival

It promises to be a fantastic weekend with the biggest parade festival ever. It all starts Saturday at 8.30pm when The City of Limerick Pipe and Drum band join country star Nicky James and DJ Dermo at The Irish Centre for The Parade Eve Concert. All acts will be present the following day for the parade, but first there's three markets to draw you into town; the launch of Sunday opening in Queensgate, the Luck of the Irish at the open market with 50 stalls and the alternative market run by the youth on New Street, where vintage clothing, jewellery and arts and crafts will be available to buy. Then the parade gets underway at 1pm from the Irish Centre. 30 acts are confirmed and will pause ten minutes later at Market Place for a shamrock and rose presentation from the Huddersfield Irish youth to the town crier. After the representation of unity through diversity, the parade will pass St Patrick's Club, go round the ring road and make its way into St George's Square at 1.45pm for a show of 'trad, step, street and rock'. With Nicky James, Irish dnacers, Frumptarn Guggenband and Giants Causeway entertaining it's guaranteed to be rip-roaring cracker to get you in the mood for St Patrick's Day. The event ends at 2.30pm back at the Irish Centre but there will be all day entertainment at both the Centre and Saint Patrick's club and time to make it to the rugby to watch the Giants. So there you go, that's your fun-filled family festival, why not come along and join us over the weekend for colour, culture and craic.
