Stevenage Christmas Lights Switch-On 2014

The air will be filled with bright lights and music on Thursday 27th November for Stevenage’s Christmas Lights Switch-On party. This popular and well attended event brings together the community, the businesses and a plethora of local talent in one big bonanza of festive fun and frivolity.
The show opens at 4pm with Reese Robinson belting out some of the most popular songs of the moment. Also in the line-up is local singer Max Keir, the lovely Roxy Searle and our very own Britain’s Got Talent finalist Gabz Gardiner.
The kids from Warriorz Performing Arts Academy will be wowing us with their dance moves and The Enlights, a gorgeous trio from London, will get the toes tapping with a medley of Motown hits and Christmas classics.
Thanks to those kind folk at The Rotary Club, Father Christmas and his Sleigh will be giving out sweets and posing for pictures next to the Christmas Tree. He will be joined by those loveable characters from 360 Play Twizzle and Twirl, who will be handing out a FREE child ticket to every child in the queue to enjoy a day at the popular children’s entertainment centre at Stevenage Leisure Park. There will be face painting between 4pm and 8pm in the Coffee Shop at the Gordon Craig Theatre, giving mums the chance to warm up with a hot drink while the children get their faces painted.
This year’s Christmas Panto at the Gordon Craig Theatre stars Aidan O’Neill as Wishee Washee and Shaun Williamson (Eastenders and Extras) as Abanazaar and both will be entertaining us on the night before the big turn on at 6.30pm. There will be an extra special guest joining the Panto Cast too! For all your Frozen fans out there, Elsa will perform on stage before helping to press the plunger, light up the town and set off the spectacular firework display to mark the start of Christmas in Stevenage.
All this, plus balloons, giveaways, fairground rides, a spectacular firework display, festive stalls selling hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, popcorn and candy floss, makes Stevenage’s Christmas Lights Switch-On an event not to be missed!
