Award-winning storyteller at the Guild gallery this Easter

Award-winning storyteller at the Guild gallery this Easter

Storytelling is magic. On the 30th March, you can hear the talented and engaging Wilf Merttens bring to life the unusual objects from the current exhibition at the Devon Guild, ‘Transplantations’. His energetic style will entertain young and old alike. Telling tales of humour and adventure, Wilf has won awards for his vibrant performances. He will draw inspiration from the pieces of contemporary narrative jewellery currently exhibited in the Guild gallery until Sunday 21st April.

The exhibition explores how objects can tell personal stories about our history and memory. Artists from the UK and Australia combine found objects and precious metals to create quirky and beautiful ornamental jewellery. The exhibitors have used materials such as communion wafers and biscuit tins to express their individual sense of place and cultural identity. The exhibition encourages us to find out how different artists make work about their history and heritage, and urges us to think about our own experiences of transplantation.

To continue the theme of the exhibition, there is also a jewellery workshop on the 20th April. Come and make a textured pendant using mixed metals and stones.

Storytelling: All ages welcome. £3 adults/children (children under 2 years free).
Accompanied children only please.
Exhibition is free, and runs until the 21st April.
