Throw Away Your Blues, the first studio album from Kyla Brox in seven years, shows how to keep it real in the modern world with good humour, lots of heart and some timelessly feelgood blues. Throw Away Your Blues restates Kyla’s credentials as a temptress, tear provoker and the consummate female blues singer of her generation.

Seven years on from the last Kyla Brox studio album, Grey Sky Blue, Throw Away Your Blues marks a return to the mother lode of the blues, but it’s clearly more besides. Sometimes, if an artist is prolific and keeps it real – and the blues is all about keeping it real – records become chapters in an unfolding story. Throw Away Your Blues serves as a kind of Seven Up! in song, and, because Kyla was pregnant during the recording of Grey Sky Blue, a lot has happened in the past seven years.
