From the villancicos of Spain to the negritos of South America, K'antu Ensemble explores the vibrant music of Spain and the New World. The seven strong, prize-winning ensemble fuses world and folk music to create a distinctive sound, all sung and performed on historic instruments. The group appeared live on BBC Radio 3's In Tune during a residency at the Southbank Centre and has already released two albums: recent concert venues have included St Martin-in-the-Fields, King's Place and the Cadogan Hall's Culford Room.

After winning the Corton-Hyde Early Music Competition, K'antu Ensemble emerged in 2012. Their eclectic abilities and multi-instrumental tendencies led them to explore the music of Spain and South America, combining colourful and energetic elements of folk and world music with historically informed techniques - hence the name K'antu, referring to an ancient style of Peruvian and Bolivian music and dance.

The ensemble regularly performs throughout the UK for Festivals and Concert Series including St Endellion, Penzance, Dartington, Warwick, Moseley and Buxton Festival where they won the fringe award for Best Small Classical Ensemble. Recent venues have included Symphony Hall, King's Place, and St Martin-in-the-Fields where they were semi-finalists in the 2014 Chamber Music Competition.

They are currently promoting their second album Dancing & the Divine, following the success of Gusto, which has been featured on BBC Radio 3's Late Junction, BBC Introducing, Resonance FM's LSO Soundhub and in Early Music Today Magazine. They performed as In Tune's house band during Radio 3's residency at the Southbank Centre.
