Arts and Community Group plan an exciting program

Following on the success of their recent photographic competition inspired by “cycling” Teignmouth Arts Advisory Groups (TAAG) have announced a full program of similar competitions together with art exhibitions at the new Community / Arts centre in Old Swanson’s in Northumberland Place, Teignmouth.

Entries for the next photographic competition – “Landscapes” should be put in an envelope and delivered to Swanson’s by 5pm on September 24th and will be on exhibition between the 26th September and the 15th October. Entry fee will be £1 per photograph which will be shared between a prize and the centres costs. All photos should be unmounted A4 prints in colour or Black & White with the title, name, telephone number and email address on the back.

An exhibition of artwork, also inspired by landscape, will run concurrently and artists are invited to apply to exhibit their paintings, mosaics, jewellery, framed photographs or sculpture by emailing images to info@teignmoutharts.org.uk or sending photographs to the gallery. The cost for an area of wall or floor space is £30 for 3 weeks + 2 days of stewarding for each artist or the option of paying a commission on sales if not stewarding. All artwork is to be delivered to the gallery and hung between 1pm and 8pm on Saturday 24th. NB Exhibitors must apply in advance to book their space

A private view for the photographic and art exhibition will be held on Sunday 26th between 6:30 and 9pm.

Further exhibitions are as follows:-
N.B. All Gallery space other than photographic competition must be booked.

Skateboard, BMX and street art photo competition – photos delivered before 5pm on Saturday 16th October.
Exhibition - Skateboard, and BMX inspired work, Graffiti or Abstract Art brought to the gallery between 1 and 8pm on the same day; private view 6:30pm on the 17th - runs until October 29th.
£20 for 2 weeks + 1 ½ days stewarding.

Marine/Seascapes – Competition photos in by 5pm on the 30th October
Marine/Seascapes Exhibition - art work hung between 1 and 8pm - private view in aid of RNLI funds 6:30pm on the 31st, finishes on 18th November. £25 for 19 days + 2 days stewarding.

November 19th to 21st – Teign Artists Christmas Fayre – Arts and Crafts for Christmas

November 23rd (set up 22nd) Affordable Art – a collection of Christmas gifts and art at prices you can afford.
Runs until December 10th – all spaces £20 for 2 weeks. Artists need to be available as often as possible.

In addition to this an ambitious programme of Community activities and Art courses are planned for elsewhere in the building. A list of proposed workshops can be found below. Sign up if you are interested in receiving more information from the workshop leaders. Further details are available at the arts and community centre during the opening times of 10am to 5pm, seven days a week.
