Virtual Yorkshire Americana & Bluegrass Day

Join us for a special live streamed concert to mark the date of our cancelled Yorkshire Americana & Bluegrass Day. We're featuring some exceptional artists from the USA and UK and we're raising funds for them and to help stage our postponed event (now re-scheduled to 2021). We've been running our popular True North Music concert series for five years, showcasing some of the finest talent in bluegrass, Americana and folk/roots at around 50 gigs in Meltham, Marsden and Sheffield. Due to the coronavirus crisis, we sadly had to cancel our Yorkshire Americana & Bluegrass Day in Marsden. But we're marking the date with a virtual show, featuring many of the wonderful American and British musicians who were due to play for us "in real life" - performing for us from their homes via the magic of the internet!

This is obviously a devastating time for musicians, concert organisers and the entire live music scene, with all concerts cancelled until further notice. While we were fortunate to have received some Arts Council grant funding for the festival (which we were able to defer to 2021) this was only part of our budget plan. We've already made a dent in our funds with some promotional costs for the original event and by paying out some modest cancellation fees to the booked artists. With this virtual concert, we're hoping to raise some funds both to fill this gap, and in anticipation of additional future challenges once we are able to physically stage our festival. Our musician friends are also suffering a devastating loss of income at this time, and we will be splitting any donations with them (with 80% going to the performers). The line-up:

AJ Lee & Blue Summit (USA) - sensational contemporary bluegrass & Americana band from California - lockdown trio version featuring AJ Lee (mandolin/vocals), Sullivan Tuttle and Jesse Fichman (guitars/vocals).

Jaywalkers (UK) - outstanding Americana/folk trio from Cheshire - lockdown duo version featuring Jay Bradberry (vocals, fiddle, guitar) and Mike Giverin (mandolin, guitar)

Zoe & Cloyd (USA) - exceptional North Carolina bluegrass and folk duo featuring the compelling songwriting, stellar musicianship and soaring harmonies of Natalya Zoe Weinstein (fiddle) and John Cloyd Miller (guitar, mandolin)

Simon Brady (UK) - the multi-talented singer, mandolinist and guitarist from Lancashire will represent his band Tilter Wheel with a short solo set
