Synth Jam

Synth Jam

YSWN Huddersfield Makers host an informal skill sharing and improv synth meet-up for women and people of minority genders. Synths provided, or bring your own!

Following a successful Yorkshire Sound Women Network application to Music for All for four Behringer MS-1s, we are holding a synth meet-up for our community. Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience and knowledge as this is a skills sharing event. It is a chance for complete beginners to learn some sound synthesis basics, and for more experienced synth heads to share equipment and knowledge. Everyone will have a chance to participate in a live synth improvisation. The objective being to explore and enjoy.

Meeting hosts are Eddie Dobson and Abi Bliss

For ages 16+, or 11+ with full participation of a guardian.

Saturday 10th September 2022, 1.30pm-4.00pm. Free to attend but places limited so please book in advance through Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/synth-jam-tickets-396127577247

You will need: nothing as such but you might want to bring some headphones. You're welcome to bring a synth (and cables if you have them).

Please note: As part of YSWN’s Permission to Play project this workshop is intended for an audience of women and people of minority genders – we would like to remind you to please respect this when booking.

Access info: Dai Hall has step-free access to the main space but unfortunately not the toilets, which are in the basement. Accessible toilets are available approximately 100m away in Queensgate Market and 200m away in Kingsgate Shopping Centre. Please get in touch by emailing hudds.yswn@gmail.com if you have any access requirements that would make it easier for you to enjoy this event.

About the organisers: YSWN Huddersfield Makers is a friendly, informal group of women and gender non-binary people who get together to skill-share and explore our interests in music-making and sound technology. To find out more, join the YSWN Huddersfield Makers Facebook group or follow @hudds_yswn on Twitter.

This workshop is supported by Yorkshire Sound Women Network’s Permission to Play project, funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
